Jiangsu University Successfully Holds the Closing Ceremony of the 2025 Chinese Government Scholarship International Summer School

On August 29, 2025, the closing ceremony of the 2025 Chinese Government Scholarship International Summer School, sponsored by the China Scholarship Council and hosted by Jiangsu University, was successfully held in the Third Lecture Hall of the Conference Center. The ceremony was attended by Wan Youling, Party Secretary and Vice Dean (Acting Dean) of the School of Food and Biological Engineering; Zhou Cunshan, Vice Dean of the School; Wu Peng, Dean of the Overseas Education College; Wang Bin, Deputy Party Branch Secretary and Vice Dean of the Overseas Education College; as well as 38 participants and volunteers from 16 countries including Serbia, Vietnam, and Guyana. The ceremony was chaired by Chen Yushan, Director of the Belt and Road Cooperation Office of the Overseas Education College.

Wan Youling extended warm congratulations to the participants on the successful completion of their studies and expressed sincere appreciation to the China Scholarship Council for its strong support, to the participants for their active engagement, and to all university departments for their dedicated efforts. She noted that the Summer School represents an important practice of Jiangsu University’s commitment to deepening international exchange and promoting mutual learning among civilizations. Over the past two weeks, participants explored the frontiers of food science and biological engineering through an integrated program combining academic seminars, enterprise visits, and cultural experiences, while gaining firsthand insight into the unique integration of China’s modern technology and traditional culture. During the program, participants visited advanced peptide production and beer brewing lines at Jiangsu University, and conducted field visits to renowned enterprises such as Hengshun Vinegar Industry, Jinshiyuan Group, and Jiangsu 707 Natural Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Cultural activities—including a lecture themed on Dream of the Red Chamber, tea culture workshops, and a visit to the historic Xijin Ferry area—enabled participants to gain a deeper understanding of the profound heritage of Chinese culture.

Serbian participant Spasojevic Ljiljana shared her reflections on visits to Hengshun Vinegar Industry and Jinshiyuan Group, noting that the deep integration of traditional Chinese brewing techniques with modern intelligent production left a strong impression on her. She believed that this model offers valuable insights for advancing innovation in the food industry of her home country. She emphasized that the Summer School was not only an academic journey, but also a journey of cultural exchange and friendship, providing a valuable platform for young people from different countries. Participant Mellissa Onellee Mickle from Guyana highlighted her learning experiences in intelligent food detection and processing. She remarked that visiting the peptide laboratory and observing the complete beer brewing process enabled her to fully appreciate the importance of integrating theory with practice. She was particularly impressed by a student-assembled chocolate 3D printer, which demonstrated the strong innovative capacity of Jiangsu University students. As a pharmacy major, she expressed great interest in Jiangsu University’s exploration of integrated innovation between traditional Chinese medicine and modern pharmaceutical science, and stated her commitment to future technological innovation and international cooperation.

This International Summer School focuses on the theme of Taste the Future: Innovation and Practice Program on Smart Food Detection and Processing. Relying on the advantages of Jiangsu University's food discipline, it builds an integrated training system of "theoretical cognition - practical exploration - cultural immersion - outcome output". Participants solidify their theoretical foundation through cutting-edge lectures on hyperspectral technology and intelligent processing equipment, and gain in-depth experience of the entire intelligent processing process by visiting peptide laboratories, beer brewing lines and related enterprises. Through cultural experience activities, they fully understand the deep integration of science and technology with humanities. Ultimately, participants successfully complete the transformation of knowledge and the enhancement of international cooperation capabilities through the presentation of innovative achievements.
